As many of your doctors will tell you, having Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) as a component of your cosmetic surgery can really help shorten your recovery time. Without MLD, it typically takes 18 months for your body to return to “normal” after the surgery. With MLD, studies show that it can shorten your recovery to as little as 3 months.
In a study conducted by Laurie A Casas, MD, FACS Assistant Professor of Surgery, Northwestern University Medical School Glenbrook Hospital, Northwestern Healthcare & Patricia DePoli, MD Saint Francis Hospital, they concluded that with MLD & some deep tissue massage there will be a decrease in swelling, pain, & subsequent soft tissue fibrosis.
We have 3 phases to cosmetic MLD. The 1st phase would be just a day or two before your surgery. We would do a full body MLD massage to help bump up your immune system & flush out your lymph fluid. The 2nd phase would be a few days after you surgery, depending on surgery, to reduce swelling & pain/numbness. We will do the MLD again, but mostly focusing on the area where you had the cosmetic surgery. By doing this it helps flush the extra fluid out, reduce bruising, & speeds up healing. The 3rd phase is some cross friction/deep tissue on the area to help break up any adhesions that maybe trying to form. This creates smaller flatter scars. We would also continue with the MLD to follow up with the swelling.

To setup your manual lymph drainage massage we require a deposit. The purpose is to hold your appointment time and apply it to the session fee. As you are recovering from your surgery I understand that it can be difficult to make appointments. But as a courtesy to me and the other clients wanting to get in, I must require a 12 hour cancellation notice. If you have to cancel within 12 hours of your appointment time you forfeit the $50 deposit, as it is non-refundable. Please call me before you pay the deposit, so we make sure that there is an appointment time available that works for you as we stay pretty busy.
